About

Until death claims us both is a story about two unfortunate souls who were resurrected after dying on the battlefield. Together, they try to navigate a world they are no longer part of and, perhaps one day, will find a way to end their curse. It is a heartfelt and deeply personal story about friendship, death and being remembered.

Setting

The story takes place in a fantasy setting inspired by the European Middle Ages. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, events, or locales is entirely coincidental.

Characters

Roderick (he/him) A young man who tried to prove himself to his betrothed and her family that he was a worthy partner for her by joining the king's troops. He fell on the battlefield not long after he had left home together with his loyal dog, Pretyman. Roderick was one of many who were resurrected by death mages, but unlike most his soul remained intact. He remembers almost everything about his life, his family, and how he had died. To rid himself of this curse, he joins the knight Gawain, who might know how to return their souls to the realm of the dead.
Gawain (he/they) A knight whose memories were lost when they were resurrected on the battlefield. While Gawain does not remember who they were, what life they lived or how they died, they know one thing: they do not have a lot of time. If they do not find a way to lift their curse soon, their soul will remain trapped in the mortal realm. Since they do not remember much, they agree to travel together with Roderick, so that they both may find a way to lift their curse.
Pretyman Roderick's dog. He's a hunting dog who, despite having been told to stay with his parents, followed his owner onto the battlefield. Pretyman seems to remember his owner and remains at his side, even in unlife.
Adeline Gawain's loyal and fearless horse. Her white and blue caparison resembles Gawain's surcoat. Similar to Pretyman, Adeline seems to remember Gawain and stays close at their side.
